Dr. Nitin Bhatia, Chief of Spine Surgery at the University of California, Irvine, was featured on Fox Sports for his part in the treatment of Jon Wilhite. Jon sustained a severe injury during a car accident in which 3 other people were killed, including Angels' pitcher Nick Adenhart. Mr. Wilhite was brought to UC Irvine where he was treated by Dr. Bhatia for an "internal decapitation" with an occipitocervical fusion with instrumentation. This injury usually results in death or severe paralysis, but Jon has miraculously recovered and is walking with function in his arms and legs.
